LEED Points

The Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) program is supported and maintained by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), and can earn companies recognition, incentives, and benefits on their LEED certified building projects. Respected throughout the country as the leader in third-party verification of green buildings, LEED addresses how buildings are designed, constructed, maintained, and operated Not only do LEED certified buildings operate more easily and less expensively, but they increase in property value and benefit from a number of incentives, such as tax rebates and zoning allowances.

Adanac products can help a building earn points in many LEED certification categories. In compliance with the recent LEED v4 certification update, Adanac has met stricter manufacturing standards to earn points for building installations. This includes, though is not limited to, the ability to demonstrate commitment to sustainability with Environmental Product Disclosures verified by a third-party. Adanac upholds these revolutionary manufacturing and design processes, which contribute to its recognition by the LEED program. At present, Adanac products can help buildings receive credit in a total of three different LEED categories:

Materials and Resources:

Recycled Material (1-2 points)

  • To qualify, companies must guarantee that 10 to 20 percent of total material value includes post-consumer recycled content
  • Adanac Ultra product lines are composed of 82 percent recycled tire rubber

Regional Material (1-2 points)

  • Companies must prove that their materials are transported 500 miles or less to complete a project
  • The Adanac manufacturing plant is only 500 yards from the source of its material
  • Projects within 500 miles of the manufacturing facility are in prime position to earn LEED points with Adanac

Indoor Environment Quality:

Minimum Acoustical Performance (Required Prerequisite)

  • In order to achieve further points in this category, companies must first meet the prerequisite as is specified by the elevated LEED v4 standards
  • Specific to school construction, this newly required prerequisite allows companies to earn more points for their installation
  • Products must comply with the requirements specified in the ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 60-2002
  • Spaces outfitted with Adanac Ultra equal to and greater than 20,000 square feet have a reverberation time of 1.5 second

Enhanced Acoustical Performance (1 point)

  • Spaces designed by companies must meet the Sound Transmission Class (STC)  Requirements of ANSI Standard 60-2002, achieving at least level 35
  • Specific to school construction, points earned in this category may be earned at three times the quantity available to a commercial office type setting
  • Adanac Ultra allows spaces like gymnasiums to have higher STC ratings

Innovation and Design:

(Pilot Credit) Acoustics (1 point)

  • The product design must meet standards of space efficiency, productivity and well-being in a high quality environment
  • Available point gain within the new categories of New Construction and Retail established by LEED v4
  • Adanac can help meet sound reverberation times of 2 seconds in a stadium or gymnasium
